Flavor: Hanoi Beef Pho
Country: Vietnam
When Seen: November 2024
In a Bite: Beefy and delicious
In a Haiku: Fragrant, noodle soup. Loaded with herbs and sliced beef. Simple, yet complex.
Origin Story: Along with banh mi, phở is one of the most universally known dishes from Vietnam. While today it comes in many different types of meat–and even non-meat–versions, the OG of phở has to be beef. Although it is not originally from Hanoi, the city can certainly take credit for helping to launch the phở craze, which more than one hundred years after the documentation of its creation, has been brought to life in a new form by the creative minds in the Lay’s Flavor Department.
