Origin Story: Fun fact, not only is pink peppercorn not related to black pepper, but it can actually kill you! That is, of course, if you have a cashew allergy, since they are in the same family. You might wonder, then, why would the Lay’s Flavor Department add this potentially deadly, yet more beautiful lookalike of a common seasoning onto potato chips? The answer might just lie in the fact that Chinese pink peppercorns themselves are not even true pink peppercorns, but a misbranded knockoff.
