Origin Story: In 2023, the Lay’s Flavor Department was feeling fancy, treating us to the prestige of a Black Pepper Rib Eye. But as the years passed and the economy shifted, the luxury of a prime cut vanished. We have now entered the era of just “Steak”, a flavor that suggests the rib eye has been downsized to a more budget-friendly cut. It is a savory, peppery reminder that even in the world of potato chips, inflation eventually catches up to all of us.
