Flavor: Roasted Cumin Lamb Skewer
Country: China (found in USA)
When Seen: January 2024
In a Bite: Strong, but pleasant scent of cumin and meat, mildly spicy and lamby in flavor
In a Haiku: Well-balanced spices. Transport you to the Silk Road. With a tad less grease.
Origin Story: Cumin flavored lamb skewers trace their origins to Xinjiang province in China, although they have long been a popular street food across China. One might question why bother trying to replicate the flavor of an already easy to eat street food on a potato chip. Surely, it is easier to just tear the meat off a stick than open a bag and pick out chips by the handful. To which the Lay’s Flavor Department might respond, “Yes, but you’ll get fewer stares eating potato chips on the bus than a meat stick.”
