Origin Story: China and India have a bit of a rivalry going on, and that same nationalist spirit extends itself into the labs of the Lay’s Flavor Departments in each country. When India released its Sizzling Barbeque a few years back, the team in China took that as an opportunity to one up them. Theirs would be pre-sizzled, not sizzling, to reduce injuries to the mouth from still cooking meat, and it would use the more practical ‘c’ over the rarely useful ‘q’ in its spelling.
