Origin Story: Fromage is fancy–er, French–for cheese. So, why you ask, did the Estonian Lay’s Flavor Department opt to name this cheese flavored chip fromage? The answer is quite simple. Cheese has too many uncouth and unsavory connotations. People call it toe cheese, not toe fromage, for example. Or, perhaps there is a deeper backstory to it all.
