Origin Story: Last year, IHOP went all out for its 65th anniversary, including bringing back its 80s classic combo, the rooty tooty fresh ‘n fruity. This year, they are seeking to extend the attention with what just might be the oddest Lay’s release in the US market in some time. Our sources indicate that in addition to the collab cash from IHOP, the Lay’s Flavor Department team was also drawn to the opportunity to try to compete with their Asian counterparts, who have long been innovators in the bizarre potato chips flavor space.
