Origin Story: Literally “little meats“, this Mexican classic was made famous (in the US, at least) on the streets of California. If the other three flavors in the 2020 Flavor Icons series were the old American gentry class, this flavor is among the nouveau riche, having only more recently emerged as a favored street food. Who makes it best? According to the Flavor Department, it is El Torito in Marina del Rey, California.
