Flavor: Chili Lime
Country: Thailand
When Seen: January 2021
In a Bite: Artificially sour, with mildly spicy notes
In a Haiku: Harry had it wrong. Lime goes better with chili; than with coconut.
Origin Story: Chili and lime are two widely used flavor enhancers in Thai cuisine, like salt and pepper in the US. Given how prolific and inventive the Lay’s Flavor Department is in Thailand, this flavor marks a return to simpler, purer flavor combinations–except for the artificial lime flavoring part.
